Abstract

This research paper aims to reveal the position of women in the contemporary Algerian novel, as the basic building block of society accompanied by men. To depict the life of the heroine (Nujoud-Zleikha), her psychological suffering, she lost her parents, to find herself in the arms of her aunt, who was suffering from barrenness. In addition to her ugly features and repulsive form, and the novelist mentioned many feminist personalities, such as (the heroine's aunt, Nujood (the heroine's sister), Mahdia, the fighter Noura, Halima, the midwife, Soso..) , and other personalities that reflected certain social conditions.

 This novel exposed reality, which reflects the consolidation of the male mentality and considers that the birth of a female is a cause for bad luck, , with social, political, cultural and artistic dimensions, trying to prove the status and role of women in life.
