Abstract

It seemed to many people interested that the victorious countries in the Second World War established an international system based on objective legal norms that contribute to activating the rules of international law and established the United Nations organization to ensure this, but they did not abandon the idea of dominating this international system to achieve their interests and ensure their superiority over other countries, which emptied this international system of its content and made the International Organization a tool in the hands of the major countries. For this reason, the United Nations organization is sometimes strict in applying the rules of international law and imposing the most severe sanctions for violating it, while at other times it condones serious violations of the rules of international law and crimes of genocide, and sometimes even provides a cover for this, which was revealed by the Zionist aggression on Gaza in late 2023. The aim of our research is to study the impact of the practices of the United Nations organization in dealing with the Zionist aggression on Gaza, which proved the dominance of the major powers over the international system, which has lost its objectivity and neutrality through selectivity in imposing international sanctions. Our research also showed the double standards with which the United Nations Organization deals in the application of the rules of international law, which has lost its role in activating the rules of international law.
