Suggested Mechanisms to Activate the Role of Internal Review for Academic Programs in Achieving Program Accreditation in Yemeni Higher Education Institutions

The purpose of this research was to identify the reality of practicing the internal review of academic programs in Yemeni higher education institutions and proposing mechanisms and recommendations to activate the role of such a process in achieving program accreditation in these institutions. The researcher employed the descriptive analytical method. and data was collected through an opinion survey form from a sample of accreditation and academic development experts. The results of the qualitative analysis of the data indicated that the internal review of the academic programs in Yemeni higher education institutions is not widely activated, and that there is an urgent need to activate it in a way that embodies the role expected of it. The results also showed that there are several challenges facing the implementation of internal review of academic programs, and that there are also several requirements to activate such a role in preparing academic programs for accreditation. The researcher presented proposed mechanisms and recommendations to enhance the practice of internal review of academic programs and activate the role in achieving program accreditation in Yemeni higher education institutions.
